The Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament is of immense importance to Sri Lanka, marking the return of international rugby to the country after a four-year hiatus.

Scheduled to take place at the Racecourse Ground in Colombo, the tournament will feature a knockout format, with the first day being April 30th. On this day, Qatar will face off against Kazakhstan in the first semi-final at 16:00 local time, followed by the hosts competing against India. The action continues on May 4th, with the team that doesn’t advance from the semi-final contending for third place at 16:00, and the winners battling it out for the championship title at 19:00 local time.

Randinith Madanayake, Head of Marketing at First Capital, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration is historic for us. As the Asia Rugby Division 1 ‘Performance Partner,’ we’re thrilled to stand by the Sri Lankan team, and we’re confident that the team will make Sri Lanka proud. On behalf of the entire First Capital team, I’d like to wish our national team a great tournament.”

With the aim of fostering Sri Lankan sporting talent and promoting sportsmanship, First Capital has proudly supported multiple disciplines in recent years, including tennis, golf, and, of course, rugby. Particularly noteworthy is the company’s role as the platinum sponsor for the victorious CR&FC Rugby team in 2023 league.
