Today (April 10th), the Muslim community of Sri Lanka is celebrating ‘Eid-al-Fitr,’ as the new crescent moon was sighted yesterday (April 9th).
The Colombo Grand Mosque has announced that ‘Eid-al-Fitr’ (also known as the Ramadan festival) for the year 2024 will be celebrated today.
‘Eid al-Fitr’ is a festival that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, known as the “festival of breaking the fast.”
It is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide, bringing together friends, family, and the entire Muslim community for various celebrations.
The festival falls on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The date and time of Eid vary in different countries, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.
