HNB bank, one of the prominent private commercial bank in Sri Lanka has gained two ex-managing directors of leading two banks in Sri Lanka as its board members. S. Renganathan, the former managing director of Commercial Bank and the Nanda Fernando, former MD of Sampath Bank appear as the new partners in HNB bank.
When mentioning about the Mr. S. Renganathan, In July 2003, he led the Bank’s acquisition of the Bangladesh operations of Credit Agricole Indosuez (CAI), Commercial Bank’s first ever acquisition of a banking operation, and was appointed Country Manager – Bangladesh, in which capacity he led the Bangladesh team of staff over a five year tenure, building up the Bank’s operations in Bangladesh. On his return to the country, he was appointed as the Bank’s first Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and was responsible for preparing and implementing the Bank’s Integrated Risk Management Policies.
Fernando is a banker with over four decades of experience in banking. He was attached to Sampath Bank as its Managing Director. He served Sampath Bank for 36 years from the year of its inception.
He currently serves as a Business Consultant. He is the Managing Director of Professional Business Consultants, a company engaged in providing financial planning and advisory services. He is also a Director of Haycarb PLC, Dipped Products PLC, Hayleys Fabric PLC, Lanka Bangla Finance PLC, and LankaBangla Securities PLC.
Also, an increase in the price of HNB Bank’s shares is also reported within a period of one month. HNB’s share price, which was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange as LKR 152 on the 1st of March, was shown as LKR 180.00 on the 2nd of April.
HNB Bank has stated that they believe that the performance of HNB Bank will increase with the arrival of these two new banking experts.
